Getting Ready | The Fairmont & Etage | Downtown Pittsburgh

Shannon started her morning in the suites at the Fairmont in downtown Pittsburgh. Black-tie elegance from the very first frame, hair and makeup by Glam To Go and Cari/G had her looking flawless while the energy in the room was relaxed, excited, and exactly what you want those early morning hours to feel like.

Across town, Marcus and his groomsmen got ready at Etage, one of Pittsburgh's most sophisticated spaces. There's something about the way a groom's morning unfolds that often gets overlooked, but these moments matter. The laughs, the nerves, the quiet seconds before the day takes off. We captured all of it.

Shannon and Marcus chose Epiphany Catholic Church for a full traditional Catholic mass, and it was everything a ceremony in that space should be. Epiphany's architecture gave us a stunning backdrop, towering ceilings, natural light streaming through stained glass, and a sense of scale that made every wide shot feel cinematic. But the real story was always Shannon and Marcus. The way they looked at each other during the vows, the reactions from their families, the emotion that filled the church. Portraits | The Mellon Columns & Heinz Chapel | Oakland

After the ceremony, we headed to Oakland for portraits at two of Pittsburgh's most iconic locations, the Mellon Columns and outside of Heinz Chapel. If you've ever been to Oakland in the fall, you know the light is unreal. The golden tones, the warm shadows, the way the stone architecture catches the afternoon sun, it's a filmmaker's dream.

Shannon and Marcus gave us everything to work with. Relaxed, natural, completely comfortable in front of the camera. These portrait sessions are more than just beautiful footage for the film, they're a chance for the couple to take a breath, soak in the fact that they just got married, and share a few quiet minutes together before the reception takes over.

And then came PPG Wintergarden. If you're looking for a Pittsburgh reception venue that delivers both elegance and energy, PPG Wintergarden is it. The evening started exactly how you'd expect from a black-tie affair, sophisticated, refined, every detail in place. Florals by Gidas elevated the space beautifully, and the overall aesthetic was polished without feeling overdone.

But what made this reception unforgettable was what happened once DJ Thomas Walter took over. The dance floor came alive and it never stopped. This is something we see with the best weddings, the ones that start elegant and end electric. Shannon and Marcus' guests brought the energy, and the two of them were right in the middle of it all night.

From a filmmaking perspective, receptions like this are gold. The transition from an elegant dinner to a packed dance floor gives us a range of emotion and energy that makes the final film feel dynamic.
