Getting Ready at the DoubleTree Downtown Pittsburgh | Ceremony at Duquesne University Chapel | Reception at the Power Center Ballroom
Some weddings just fit. The couple, the venue, the timeline, the people in the room, everything clicks into place and the whole day flows like it was meant to be exactly this way. Emily & Ryan's August wedding at Duquesne University was one of those days.
Getting Ready | DoubleTree Downtown Pittsburgh
Emily and Ryan both started their day at the DoubleTree in downtown Pittsburgh. Having both sides under one roof makes a difference, it sets a relaxed tone for the morning and gives the whole timeline room to breathe.
Emily's suite had that calm, focused energy where everything feels exciting but unhurried. Hair and makeup by JL Studios had her looking flawless, and the bridesmaids kept the room light with the kind of laughter that only happens when you're surrounded by your closest people on a day like this.
Down the hall, Ryan and his groomsmen were keeping it loose, ties getting tied, sleeves getting rolled, the usual pre-ceremony mix of nerves and excitement that makes getting-ready footage some of the most genuine content of the entire day.
The Ceremony | Duquesne University Chapel
If you've never been inside the chapel at Duquesne University, it's one of Pittsburgh's most stunning ceremony spaces. The architecture alone gives you chills, soaring ceilings, stained glass, the kind of natural light that makes every frame look like it was designed for a film.
Emily and Ryan's ceremony carried every bit of weight that a space like that deserves. There's something about a chapel ceremony that brings a different level of presence to the room. The vows land harder. The silence between moments means more. And from a filmmaker's perspective, the combination of that architecture and the emotion between these two gave us everything we needed to create something cinematic.
The Reception | Power Center Ballroom | Duquesne University
From the chapel, the celebration moved to the Power Center Ballroom at Duquesne — and the energy shifted exactly the way it should. What started as an elegant, emotional ceremony turned into a reception that had the dance floor packed from the first song.
DJ Mike Bothwell kept the room moving all night. When the DJ is locked in, you can feel it in the footage — people are on their feet, the couple is in the middle of it, and the energy doesn't dip. That's what Mike delivered.
The ballroom itself looked incredible. Florals by Jim Ludwig's Blumengarten elevated the space with the kind of arrangements that catch your eye from across the room without ever feeling overdone. Paired with the ballroom's existing architecture, the reception had a classic Pittsburgh elegance that photographed and filmed beautifully.
From the toasts to the last dance, Emily and Ryan's guests showed up for them. That kind of energy is something you can't plan — it just happens when the right people are in the room celebrating two people they genuinely love.

Why Your Wedding Film Matters
Your wedding day moves faster than you think. The ceremony feels like it lasted five minutes. You barely remember what song played during your first dance. And the moments that hit the hardest — a parent's expression during the vows, the look on your partner's face before you walked down the aisle, the split second your best friend started crying during the toast — those happen too fast for anyone to fully absorb in real time.
That's what a wedding film gives you. Not just what happened, but how it felt. The sound of your vows in that chapel. The roar of the room when you were announced. The faces of the people who love you most, watching you marry the person you chose.
Emily & Ryan don't have to rely on memory alone. Every time they press play, they're right back in that chapel, right back on that dance floor, reliving the day exactly as it happened.
